ST THOMAS’ ANGLICAN CHURCH

The project was to seek grant funding under the Australian Government's Your Community Heritage Grant programme 2011-2013 to continue conservation works to the State listed St Thomas' Anglican Church a church that was constructed between 1824-1827 making this church one of the oldest in New South Wales.

The adoption of a Conservation Management Plan (CMP) in 1999, prepared by Suters Architects, provided the instrument for the Parish Council to begin the process, in 2003, of the long term conservation of the church addressing structural and major maintenance issues while correcting prior ill-informed repair works that were contributing to fabric deterioration.

With the completion of conservation works to the external fabric and the interior wall render meant that much needed conservation work to the cedar wainscoting could be carried out, subject to funding, completing the last of the major conservation works identified in the CMP.
